Specialist in Bridal & Special Occasion makeup, assisting with skincare preparation through to full bridal makeup
The trial is one of the most important parts of the bridal makeover process. It ensures that you are happy with how you will look on your wedding day, that you don't have any sensitivities to the products used and that your wedding day will run smoothly with your makeup, timings and requirements arranged in advance.
As your makeup artist, it is important to me that once I have applied your makeup for your big day, you still look like you! This may sound obvious but if you don't normally wear a lot of makeup, there is little point in me heavily making you up into some glamorous diva - it simply wouldn't suit you and would ruin your photographic memories of the day. It is for that reason that during your trial, we can try out as many different looks as you like and with no time limit, we can be sure to find the perfect look for you. Additionally, to help you decide on which look you want and to see how it translates onto film, I will also take photographs after each look - another important aspect in ensuring your complete confidence and satisfaction. To help with ideas for different looks, I will arrive with a portfolio of different bridal makeup styles. However, if you have already seen some photos or magazine cuttings with looks that you like, then please have them with you to show me.
To give us enough time to try out different looks, you should expect your trial to last between 2 and 4 hours. It is quite normal for mothers to have a trial at the same time and of course bridemaids are also welcome although please allow an extra hour for each other person requiring a trial.
Finally, in addition to discussing different looks, I will also chat with you about the makeup you normally wear, the style of your dress and wedding, colour themes and photography style. The finished result should feel comfortable, fit in with the style of your wedding and your personality, and most importantly, last all day.
On your wedding day I will arrive at the time and place agreed and will usually work on other members of the bridal party before the bride. I will work from the notes made at your trial but will also listen to any ideas you may have had since and will always chat to members of the bridal party that didn't have a trial to ensure they get their makeup perfect as well. Your makeup should be applied after you have had your hair styled but before you get dressed. One hour will be allowed for the bride's makeup and 45 minutes each for other members of the bridal party.
As an additional service, evening reception makeup can also be booked for your wedding day if you wish to change your makeup for the evening or would like to offer a 'freshen up' service for you and your guests. The cost of this service will be calculated based on your individual requirements and it is advisable to check with your venue to ensure that there will be a room available to offer this service in. For further information or to obtain a personalised quote, please get in touch or mention it at your trial.
